78' Pontiac "Formula" Firebird

The second generation Firebird saw the Firebird becoming more like a Camaro, but
Pontiac still had a few more tricks up its sleeve, especially under the hood. Nothing would
rule the mid 1970s quite like the Firebird.

Attempting to capitalize on its new found popularity, Pontiac offered a slew of Special Edition
Firebirds including a Gold Trans Am with brown accents and Blue "Sky Bird" and Red "Red Bird"
Firebirds. Sales soared to a record 187,285 units, including 93,341 Trans Am's.

1978 was certainly a banner year. The Pontiac enginners were putting their best effort forward, creating a
harmony between horsepower and handling. Over 90,000 Trans Ams, nearly half of the total Firebird production
made it into the hands of willing consumers. But with the new fuel economy standards being written, the
good times were sure to be short lived.

This 1978 Pontiac "Formula" Firebird is in exceptional shape with just over 76,912 original
Miles. This car has been well maintained, and kept in really good condition since new. What makes
this vehicle so rare is the Formula package, offered as a special edition for the Firebirds.
The exterior is Sundance Yellow with the Formula decals, complemented by a Cloth Camel Tan interior.
The engine is the factory optional L80 6.6L 403 V8 with the M33 Automatic Transmission. Power options
include: Pwr. Steering, Pwr. Brakes, Pwr. Windows, AC Delco AM/FM Stereo and Factory Air Conditioning.
Included is the original build sheet and a copy of the window sticker. This is a rare limited production
vehicle and is highly collectible.
