Though the Jaguar brand was first used in 1945, its factory had been
founded long before. In 1922, William Lyons and William Walmsley laid
the foundation of the firm in Blackpool, England with the name of
Swallow Coachbuilding Co. Later Changed to SS cars Ltd.
After World War II the company name SS Cars Ltd. was changed into
Jaguar Cars Ltd. It was the birth of the now famous and popular make of
Jaguar.
For the London Motor Show in October 1966 the Mark X was renamed the Jaguar 420G.
Visually, the 420G was distinct from the Mark X only in the addition of a vertical central
bar splitting the grille in two; side indicator repeaters on the front wings, and a chrome
strip along the wing and door panels. Interior changes included the arrival of perforations in
the central sections of the leather seats, padded dashboard sections for safety, the moving of
the clock to a more central position, and the introduction of air conditioning as an option.

This is one delightful Original British Classic. This Stunning Light Green,
"Big Cat" is an excellent example of Jaguar Luxury and Style. Under the hood sits
a 4.2L 6 cyl twin ohc engine with Triple SU Carbs and automatic transmission. The brakes are
Four wheel discs, rear discs are inboard W/ Vacuum servo assist. The interior shows extremely well
with stunning red leather, wood trim and rear fold-down picnic tables. This example features
Pwr. Windows, A/C, Pwr. Brakes and Pwr. Steering. The body on this Jaguar is exceptional
as is the undercarriage and engine compartment, all extremely solid.
